Steve Mecham concentrates his practice representing telecommunications and energy companies before the Public Service Commission of Utah and other utility commissions in the region. He also performs related work for his clients. Steve’s principal areas of practice include public utility law, energy law, telecommunications law, and local, state and federal regulation. Steve has participated in proceedings before the Utah State Tax Commission and other state and federal agencies and litigates regulatory and other matters in state and federal court. In addition, Steve does work for municipalities on telecommunications and regulatory issues.

Steve served as a member of the Public Service Commission of Utah for 13 years and chaired the Commission for more than ten of those years. His experience in state government included service as chief of staff to Utah’s governor and executive director of the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice.

With extensive experience in government, Steve represents clients before the Utah state legislature, city councils, and other government agencies.

Steve is a member of the Communications Section of the Utah State Bar. He is active in the community as a member of the board of the Utah Food Bank and as a board member of the Greater Avenues Community Council, serving one year as chair of the Council Board. Steve is a volunteer member of Salt Lake City’s subcommittee on water rates and is a past member of the LDS Hospital Citizens Advisory Board.
