James D. Gilson Shareholder
Mr. Gilson is the chair of the firm’s Litigation Section, and is also a member of the firm’s Employment and Intellectual Property Sections. He serves as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Utah State Bar and is the Utah Bar’s Representative to the Rules of Procedure Committee of the Judicial Conference of the United States. During 2000-01, Mr. Gilson served as President of the Utah Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. At the beginning of his career, Mr. Gilson was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable J. Thomas Greene and later for the Honorable Dee Benson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah, and was an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Utah, prosecuting white collar criminal matters. During 2005-2008, Mr. Gilson was a screening panel member of the Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme Court. Every year since 2005 Mr. Gilson has been listed as one of Utah’s “Legal Elite” by Utah Business Magazine, in the areas of business litigation and intellectual property. He was listed in Mountain States Super Lawyers in 2008 and 2009. He is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell.
